The same people shamelessly moving from party to party promising things they know they will never fulfil. Even when we vote aiming to change leadership the same faces resurface, WHY? This surely entails no change at all.
Indeed I hear many refer to politics as a dirty game but in my view that's just because we have all tolerated such a scenario. I can't understand weather it's this belief that has caused people of truth and integrity to shy away.
I am aware of how many of us complain about how wrong things are in this country, corruption, lack of commitment by government to improve living conditions of the majority but many of us still seem to take very little interest in involving ourselves in governance.
I do listen to some radio shows and watch TV interviews where the populace is given chance to express their views and I get amazed at how expressively people show thier displeasure about what's going on in the country. If you ask these people if there is anything they are doing to try and change things besides complaining you will find there is nothing. Governance does not only start at central Government but at Local Governance where it actually all starts and ends. A lot of us don't even know what is going on there. Let me give you an example. Central Government releases money to Local Authorities for development projects and it's misappropriated. It will take the Auditor General to notice and not the people for whom the development is for, why? Where are the activists, the whistle blowers, the general public, you and me. We are not checking because we are not interested! Yet we are the first to complain. People don't want to get involved. Are we saying we are too smart to get our hands dirty or is it just the patriotism we lack? Some People if they began caring much to get involved in politics can really do something to develop the country but we have left it all to a few that have arisen and are busy squandering resources before thier turn ends. They have learnt the channels of stealing and they can't believe thier luck that they keep bouncing back to steal some more, chosen and put back into the system.
If we must change this country for the better believe me, we need a total overhaul. We need more and more, passionate, patriotic, diligent and honest people in this business. Charismatic people that are not only interested in fattening their pockets but in the well-being of the majority and maybe you want to ask how we can know them..i tell you, you are able to tell.
We need right people, normal not crazy people that have no shame but take people for granted and leave them hopeless. We need genuinely purpose filled young men and women. This is a challenge. We (including myself) should think hard and long, not too long to let the forth coming tripatite elections pass us by, about what we can do to make things better. How we can chase out all those that we have had enough with and get fresh serious people in. No one says no to you trying and if you are an individual who wants to give it a try, well you never know till you try. I don't think Zambia has a leadership crisis, our God given leaders must hid the call and rise up.
Hence we say no more familiar selfish politicians anymore, we know them and we are just FED UP..ANYBODY UP FOR A REAL CHALLENGE?
